Ken Achikian learned his craft overseas from a master artist and goldsmith more than 15 years ago. He worked as a jeweler for four years in California before moving to Washington, D.C. to accept a goldsmith position. He prefers working with gold and platinum for their unusual malleability and warmth. Unlike many craftsmen, he creates each individual artwork by hand, slowly and carefully, and often uses no molds.
